The Sailormen has become known by Turbonegro's music. During that time they have also covered Judas Priest, Rolling Stones and Grim Reaper. On their journey The Sailormen have also written their own songs, from which "The Pimp" was favoured at least in certain small groups. This song was also notified abroad and it was even in turn covered by a band from Denmark. Now The Sailormen have again shown their paces in making of new material. The guitarist Jack Russell spent one whisky-fumed weekend at the sea alone with his guitar and came back with the basic structure of "Rock On". The vocalist Pete Z wrote the lyrics and together with the rest of the band the song was shaped into the present form. The song has already been tested live and the feedback has been very positive. On spring 2008 the recordings for this song were started by Mr. Ahole banging the first tracks for the drums. Mr. Mikko Hämäläinen (Diabolica, Jack & the Rippers, Kadonneet) acted as a recording engineer, mixer and producer.
"Rock On" tells a fictious story of the end of the world and the ultimate band on their last show. The song is a kind of a survival kit and a tribute to an alliance of old and new rock music. In this song one can hear some elements influenced by The Sailormen's own idols but in the end it's in the question of the band's own sound and the vision of the rock music and how it is played.
Get it on, plug it in and Rock On!
